Life Pre-Baby was relatively carefree. Both hubby and I worked in good stable jobs. We had a mortgage, but could still maintain a lifestyle with dinners out, yearly overseas holidays and nice cars. Interestingly, we always wanted more. Maybe that's just a generational thing? I look back at this now and realise how naive I was to have wanted more. Our life was great. We had the love of each other, our health, supportive families and great friends.
Life Post-Baby is almost unrecognisable. I'm on maternity leave, so we only have one income to live on. The mortgage is still there, but now there is half the amount of money in the coffers to pay it. Dinners out are a distant memory, yearly overseas holidays (who are we kidding), and the 2 door convertible I had longed for has been traded in for the 4 door practical family sedan. My penchant for designer duds has most definitely been put on hold as any extra cash goes into clothing the little one who has secretly become my little dress ups project!
You might think upon reading this that life Post-Baby is a little bit crappy. Rest assured you could not be more wrong! Life Post-Baby is my new life, now and forever, and it is the greatest thing in the world. Having more possessions or more money will not make you happy. More often than not it will just make you want more. Being a family and having a daughter is the best thing I have ever done. And I can truly say, I'm the happiest and most contented person I have ever been in my life.
Heading out for a walk with my beautiful girl
Sarah xoxo
